I was rushing around, trying to finish wrapping presents before christmas eve dinner, panicking because the guests had arrived, i hadn't changed into my outfit yet and my hands were full of sticky tape
(yes for at least one time a year, i try to look presentable and not like the scruffy marshmellow me that you usually see)
my parent ordered too much food (i think it's a tradition for my family to overorder every christmas) there were leftovers of everything, sushi, salmon sashimi, honey baked ham, turkey, roast beef, potato salad, normal salad, ice jelly... we didn't even touch the cake( actually i did, they didnt)
and this year there's no 'cavalry' to help us finish up the food because bros are heading over to somewhere for some party.
parent had to rush off to church after dinner because they're singing in the choir for the christmas eve service... so that's why i have a few moments to sneak into the room to type all this.
i love christmas. true i was all flustered earlier in the day doing my last minute christmas shopping and all. (i'm sorry that almost everyone this year got chocolates by the way... i didn't have time to personalise gifts and all that... do forgive)
but still there's a certain joy in the air, a certain peace that He gives, a certain birth and gift we remember ... that makes everything so special.
a voice from below travels up the stairs
a lone voice singing gently, sweetly low
i heard my dad sing as i typed this. his voice travelled pass the corridor and he was singing to me... it was a simple song... a song that's usually branded as commercial and annoying.
but when a father sings it to a child, it just takes on a different tone. it becomes sweet, warm and endearing
you better watch out,
you better not cry,
you better not sulk
i'm telling you why...
santa claus is coming to town
AND TO THINK IM ALRDY SEVENTEEN..
